Asking My Neighbors for Energy Advice

After moving from California to Texas, I had to learn a lot of new things. Living out here is a different way of life. One of the biggest differences is the way utilities work. Back home, I didn’t have much of a choice when it came to power. Here in Texas, consumers are able to choose from a number of different energy providers. So far, everyone I’ve spoken with has told me I should go with Reliant Energy. They seem to have the best rates in town.

My neighbor Jeff was the first person I asked about energy. He was walking his dog down the street, and thought that would be a good opportunity to ask his opinion. We had met the week before, and he had given me some really great tips about the neighborhood. I asked who his energy provider was, and how satisfied he was with them. He said he had been with Reliant for years, and that he couldn’t be happier. He did a lot of research before making that decision, and he hadn’t regretted it for a single day. I asked him why, and he said that he had no reason to complain. He said that he gets reliable energy at a great price.

I also asked my neighbor Susan what she thought. I told her what Jeff said and the advice that he had given me. She said that she couldn’t agree more. She used the same company, and had been very happy with the service that she received. Susan told me that she’s happy to live in a state where she has the ability to choose her own energy provider, but now that she’s found the best company that meets her needs, she doesn’t plan on changing. I’m glad that I moved to state that gives me an option. However, based on the advice of my neighbors, I think I’m going to choose the same energy provider.
